1. I was getting ready to take my older son to the dentist, where he was going to have his cavities drilled. He has like four cavities in his front teeth, which was horrifying for mommy. So the morning of the appointment I was like “Come brush your teeth right now” and he kept shouting “No!” So I said, “What are you going to say to the dentist when you get in trouble?” and he smiled at me and yelled “Give me more cavities!” I have to admire that attitude.
2. A short time later I was struggling with the younger son to get him to brush his teeth, and then I asked him, “What are you going to say to the dentist when you get in trouble?” and he smiled at me and said “I love you, dentist!” Two different, equally effective strategies.

4. I am currently having my insides blown out by the MGMT song “Time to Pretend.” Especially the youtube version with the footage of Earth. I know you hate music, reader, but just try to stifle that urge to offend.
5. Apparently the new sewing machine needles take 20 days to arrive by US Postal Service. In the meantime I am practicing drawing and have been reading about string quilts and log cabin quilts. Also thinking about more purses with outlandish shapes and pointy things.
6. Are you still mad about what I said in number 4? I know you are. I love you, dentist/give me more cavities!
